Dog Talk

Meeko plops her furry self on the cool marble floor on a sunny day

I came home from work a little later than usual today. My dogs are usually tied up when the gate opens to ensure that they don't run out (yes, we've tried to train these mutts since they were puppies but they seem to think it's a game). We're afraid they might bite someone or get into fights with other dogs.

Tonight, however, Chino's leash was a little loose and he ran out without me knowing. Meeko, who was still tied up, tried to tell me what happened. She was crying and yelping and when I let her loose, she ran laps to and from the front gate. I had to calm her down while waiting for Chino to return from his 'joy run' in the park. She always tries to make it known that she didn't do anything wrong - if she could talk, she'd surely be a tattletale.

Back to Work

So here I am, it's 9.30p.m. on a Monday night and I'm mentally figuring out what I should wear to work tomorrow while I type out my thoughts.

Within a week, I accepted the job offer and decided to put an end to my unemployment. After dinner yesterday, I headed off to the grocery store to shop for two key things. The first was cereal as I won't have enough time to make a wholesome breakfast in the morning. And of course, some biscuits for a snack so that I don't snap at my new colleagues in case I get hungry in the mid-day (those who know me have seen this monstrosity).

It's been a long while since I've got up for work at the wee hours in the morning. The last time I was committed to getting up early was a weekend where I was organizing the bazaar. After that weekend, it that took me a week of waking up late and countless naps in between to recover :) Last night, I tossed and turned till 4 a.m. and woke up to the sounds of my sister getting ready to leave for the airport.

After putting on my shirt (yes, a shirt! With buttons! Formal wear!), I marched downstairs to have my cereal only to find my father ever so eager for me to leave at that very minute (8.15, work starts at 9) as he was very sure traffic was heavy and I'll be late. Sheesh! I felt like it was the first day of school and I was missing the bus.
Me: Don't worry! It's so near!
Dad: That route is always back-locked. You better leave now.
Me: *grumble* Fine.

So, I left, and was stuck in a jam (please don't tell him he's right!) but arrived at 9 sharp! HAH! Overall, work was fine despite insufficient rest - my brain was working at a considerate pace. Phewph! Back to the routine for me where weekends are sacred and weekdays are dreadful!
