The first puree introduced to the little one was butternut squash.
Butternut squash was on the top of my list cause of it’s nutrients, low on the allergy list, and availability. I purchased half a butternut squash from Village Grocer. I sliced it into cubes and steamed it using my trusty rice cooker.
Here’s a good video on how to prepare butternut squash puree:
- The skin of the squash is a real pain to remove.
- I steamed instead of boiled
- After pureed in the blender, I stored the extras in 1oz Baby Cubes and froze them.
- Baby did not enjoy butternut squash alone so I added a little cereal and milk to it.
