When I was pregnant, I told Prav that I did not want to have our child sleeping in the same room as us. He agreed and we told ourselves that we will wait till our baby was 6-months old before we moved him out. My husband’s Norwegian colleagues told him that back home, the kid is in their own room from the very first day.
I’m not sure if it’s Asian parenting but I was really reluctant to move our baby into his own room. I gave my husband a million excuses from ‘we can’t move him tonight, we have not bought a baby monitor!’ to ‘we need a new house, there’s simply not enough space in this one’.
All my excuses were shot down and 3 weeks ago, we spring cleaned and rearranged our house to turn the guest/study/store room into a comfortable bedroom for our son. Our baby has had no trouble since the first night we moved him out. I am happy to report that no one’s sleep was harmed in this migration.
