I got up on time this morning, the usual, 7 a.m., hit ‘snooze’ get up at the second alarm.
Only I didn’t hit snooze, I turned it off. Rats….better get up now – just in case.
I realise it rained last night. It was relatively cold so I took a really hot shower – I could’ve stayed in there for an hour if not for the pathetic hot water arrangement we have at our place.
I get dressed and decide to lie down on the bed for a while – getting ready can be tiring!
Shit…it 7.40 – I haven’t brushed my teeth or cut my nails (which I’ve been putting off for a while)
I rush out of my house and when I reached the main road, I saw my bus driving by. It’s the cute bus driver this week – and he left without me! How could he!!!! *grumble*
It starts to pour, I’m standing at the bus stop getting splashed by the rain that hits the ground from the shed.
When I reached the office, the rain got even heavier. I was standing accross from my office.
So near yet so far.
I got to work. Drenched.
I’d like to express my sincere ‘thank you’s to all of you. Working here has always been challenging but we always get through the obstacles together (and it goes without saying – with great guidance).
Geetha: You gave me the first chance and I will never forget that. Thanks for always having faith in me, guiding and giving me confidence, and teaching me everything I know.
Zety: You’re more than my colleague- I am so glad we are great friends. I will miss you the most!
Adah: You have been a great mentor. I have always admired your good nature and kind self. Thanks!
Yong: You never said ‘no’ to assisting, guiding or teaching me anything. Thanks for all the story- telling and ‘hiong peng’.
Lina: You were always there to hear me out when I had a problem with the Client 🙂
Sia: Keep up the good work – I admire your determination.
Valerie: You are indeed a wonderful and amazing person. I am so glad to have met you.
Justin: I’ve always envied your care free attitude. And yes, ‘good people will always get parking’
Musa: Sekarang, hanya Zety akan bully you, paksa you dengar lagu yang dia suka. Sabarly, dia main-main sahaja. Kalau kahwin, jemput saya, ya?
Malar: Always so helpful. Keep smiling.
James and Gladys: It’s been a pleasure working for you.
Thanks for all the great memories. Best wishes to you all!
How do you sustain from falling asleep at work?
I didn’t have a heavy lunch, in fact, all I had was an egg sandwich. I’ve had my coffee yet I’m finding the clock has stopped ticking. Issit because I’ve been working on the same document for two weeks? I look at he folder – sigh – I hold the mouse over it
I made a set of five stones for SW to bring back to London. I’m sure most of us have had a set that we’d play in class, at home, and I recall once I attempted to play on the plane – Mum told me to keep them away!
I used Feather and Stitch’s Scroll Hearts in red by Sarah Watts.
I’ve been planning his birthday since he was 6 months old. I toyed with a few ideas but decided on the Little Monster theme for he truly can be a little monster. I admit that I was more excited about his 1st birthday party than I was about our wedding. This celebration was not only about our boy, but was for my husband and I – it certainly needed to be perfect.
The Invitation (sent out via electronic media like email, text and What’sApp)
I wanted the party favours to be fun for the kids and I wanted it to be stuff they could keep. I didn’t want to include the typical things like balloons, face masks and noise makers in the gift bags. Frankly, when I get those gifts from parties, I don’t know what to do with them and they usually end up in the bin.
I immediately thought of a friend I met many years back at a bazaar and asked if she could help make some little monsters in felt. She and I got extremely excited and she amazingly came up with the six monsters in the photograph below. I ordered 12 of these, gave 1 to each of the 6 kids who came, and kept another 6 for my son which were also used as decor at the party. My son was immediately drawn to the bright colours and cute eyes.

Other goodies in the party packs were raisins, rice crackers for the younger kids and teddy bear biscuits for the older ones. I hope they liked them, their parents surely did!

Balloons in green and blue from the party shop along Jalan Telawi.
30 adults and 6 kids consisting of grandparents, aunts, uncles, and our close friends.
When we got home that day, our son was so tired but excited to be surrounded by so many toys. He checked each one out before he went to bed. Happy Birthday, baby boy. Mama hopes she made this day memorable for you.
